PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

On March, 22 RSMU hosted the All-Russian Student Scientific and Theoretical Conference with international participants “Intercultural communication in a common education space: problems and prospects”.

In his opening speech Vice-Rector for Research and Development Igor A. Suchkov noted that the conference was meant to not only share views, make reports and present projects but to give students an excellent opportunity to develop scientific contacts in the future. Welcoming the present teachers and students from universities of Moscow, Ryazan, Samara, Voronezh, Ivanovo and international students studying in Russia Victor G. Okorokov, the Dean of RSMU Faculty of International Students, stressed the importance of social and cultural adaptation of foreign students.

140 speakers from 19 countries took part in the conference. The participants discussed professional communication and intercultural awareness in the context of increasing academic mobility of students. Also professional terminology and the role of Latin loanwords, as well as the stylistic features of specialized scientific texts, were touched upon.

Such like events help to develop intercultural communication and increase students` interest in academic mobility programs.
